The institution of marriage
Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediments.

We are often told that "mental illness" is just like "physical illness". It's as serious - they say. However, people still continue to think of disorders suchs as OCD and BIPOLAR as something that's "in your mind". But where is the mind? What is mind? In this serialized essay i would like to explore where the mental ends and the physical begins. My own experience with mental illness has involved so much pain. This is my attempt at exploring where this pain exactly is.
Rocky Randhawa is a rather peculiar male lead. He is stereotypically masculine – but with no fangs. He’s a product of “patriarchal socialization”, but not toxic - thus making him digestible to liberal feminist sensibilities - because after all, he doesn’t know better and takes steps to change his behavior – albeit meagre - when he does realize how his actions are harmful. His boyish, playful, fangless masculinity is in fact rather appealing.
I’m one of the aaj kal ke bollywoood mein who baat nahi rahi people, so when I watched the Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani trailer with its conspicuous display of Bollywood romance nostalgia, I was immediately intrigued. And when I finally watched it, it didn’t disappoint. I did a double feature, Barbie followed by RRKPK and while I adored Barbie if you asked me which movie I enjoyed more, my answer would easily be RRKPK. This should tell you a lot about how much I enjoyed this film because I’m a huge fan of Greta Gerwig’s work and was eagerly anticipating Barbie and enjoyed it a whole lot. At one point in the film Rani (alia Bhatt) talks about how she used to think her Naani (Shabana Azmi) listens to old songs because she loves them but actually it was the memories associated with them that she loves. That’s exactly what I love about the film. Invoking nostalgia in a way that isn’t corny and boring is a difficult feat but RRKPK delivers.
This is a small collection of poems that includes four of the poems i shared on my twitter in June and additionally, a brand new previously unpublished poem titled "self portrait as a silly goose".
